Mentoring scheme award (MSA)

The Mentoring Scheme Award provides a platform for staff from two different metrological institutes (EURAMET NMI or DI), in different countries, to set up a partnership and work together on a relevant topic, such as technical, managerial, comparisons or traceability. MSA participants will spend between 2 and 6 person weeks (not necessarily consecutive) at the partner organisation in a different country to their employing organisation.

Eligibility criteria

The admissibility and eligibility criteria are the minimum conditions that an application must fulfil if it is to be evaluated. Where eligibility is not met, the application will be rejected, and the proposers informed. If ineligibility is discovered later during the evaluation process, the application will be rejected.
Eligibility for the mentoring scheme award for both sending / hosting organisation are that the organisations are EURAMET NMIs and DIs and NMIs and DIs from countries associated to Horizon Europe.

Applicants:
  • Should be staff members of EURAMET NMIs and DIs are eligible to participate, while representatives from other RMOs may be invited as well;
  • Should hold the nationality of a member state of the European Union; or any other country, if the researcher can establish the right to work in the destination country for the lifetime of the grant;
  • Fluency in English is required (knowledge of the language of the destination country is an advantage);
  • Should be employed by their current Employing organisation for the MSA’s duration.
Duration:
MSA participants will spend between 2 and 6 person weeks (not necessarily consecutive) at the partner organisation in a different country to their employing organisation.
Typical activities:
  • Support exchange of expertise on technical topics;
  • Support exchange of expertise on managerial topics;
  • Support exchange of expertise on CIPM MRA related topics;
  • Support the preparation of EURAMET activities (e.g. capacity building).
Financial allowances:
The project will reimburse actual costs incurred for travel, accommodation and subsistence for MSA recipients for their visit(s) to the counterpart organisation according to the accounting rules of their Employing organisation, and on receipt of an invoice from that organisation and taking account of the budget agreed for the MSA.

How to apply

The MSA application will include the following information:
  • Details of the organisations applying,
  • Overview and need for the proposed work,
  • Projected benefit for the participating organisations,
  • Schedule / timescale for the work,
  • Financial estimates.
