EURAMET 2026 Autumn School on Radiometry, Photometry and Spectrophotometry

2-6 November, 2026, INRiM, Torino, Italy

The school will give less experienced metrologists in the field of radiometry, photometry and spectrophotometry, the opportunity to learn basic theory and practice of related measurements, with the aim to prepare them for their future work. The course will be a valuable opportunity to network with likeminded colleagues at an early stage of career. The course tutors are internationally recognised experts, and the school will have limited participation to be highly interactive with plenty of time for discussions and questions. During registration students are invited to identify their specific training interest, to ensure that the course tutors can tailor the lectures accordingly.

School outline
During the first day participants will learn about:

  • international metrology organisations, information about EURAMET and it’s activities in the field, followed with
  • fundamental technical knowledges and concept of measurement uncertainty,
  • fundamentals on optics, radiometry, photometry & spectrophotometry and measurement devices used in the fields

The following three days of the school will be devoted to practical sessions, where participants will split into 6 groups, which will rotate between experimental setups providing insights into measurements with photometer, monochromator, integrating sphere, radiometer, solid state detector, light sources and optical fibres, to support applications linked to climate monitoring, photovoltaic, lighting, quantum optic, appearance measurement and telecommunication.

The last day of the school will be devoted to

  • Uncertainty assessment in radiometry & photometry
  • Open forum for discussing students’ questions
  • Future developments in radiometry & photometry

Who should attend?
The course is primarily aimed at those in EURAMET NMIs or DIs who have less experience in field of radiometry, photometry and spectrophotometry metrology or who need to gain initial experience in one or more of these measurement fields.

Venue
Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRiM)
Strada delle Cacce 91
10135 Torino
Italy

The registration for EURAMET colleagues is foreseen by 31 May 2026 and will be confirmed by 5 June 2026. Maximal number of participants is 30.

Representatives from NMIs/DIs of other RMO’s will be invited from 6 June 2026, depending on availability.

Online participation is not foreseen.

Local logistic information and accommodations
Participants are responsible for organising their own travel and accommodation.
Coffee breaks and lunches will be offered by the host (EURAMET).

This event is organised with partly support of the project CaBuCo.

EURAMET 2026 Summer School on Thermophysical Quantities Metrology

1-4 September, 2026, LNE, Paris, France

The Summer School will give metrologists new to the field of measurements of the thermophysical properties of materials an overview of the state-of-the-art techniques used for measuring thermal transport properties, caloric quantities and radiative properties with the aim to prepare them for their future work.

During the first two days the in-depth theoretical lectures will be given at the LNE’s head office (Paris). The course tutors are internationally recognised experts in their fields coming from various European NMIs.

Hands-on-training will be held on the last day and a half in LNE Trappes labs.

The School will be highly interactive with plenty of time for discussions and questions. During registration students are invited to identify their specific training interest, to ensure that the course tutors can tailor the lectures accordingly.

Participants of the school will be able to use LNE’s MATIS platform for thermophysical properties metrology, which is the most comprehensive one existing in NMIs worldwide

Who should attend?
The course is primarily aimed at those in NMIs or DIs who have less than two years of experience in the field of thermal metrology or who need to gain initial experience in thermophysical properties measurements.

Venue
Laboratoire national de métrologie et d’essais (LNE)

  • 1, rue Gaston Boissier, 75724 Paris cedex 15, France (days 1 and 2)
  • 29, Av. Roger Hennequin, 78190 Trappes France (days 3 and 4)

A shuttle will be organised for the transportation of the students and lecturers from Paris to Trappes in the morning and the evening for the 3rd and 4th September 2026.

Registration
Participants please register here >>. EURAMET Participants should register by 10 April 2026. Participation will be confirmed by 17 April 2026. Registration could be closed earlier if all available places will be filled.

Representatives of other RMOs’ NMIs/DIs will be invited to register in the second half of May 2026, depending on availability of places after the registration for EURAMET is completed.

Participation fee
Participants will be charged a fee of 150 € for the whole event to partly support the logistic costs of the School.

EURAMET 2026 Summer School on Biochemical Metrology (TC-MC)

10-13 August, 2026, PTB, Kloster Drűbeck, Germany

The aim of the school is to inform participants about the current global and European metrology infrastructures supporting the clinical, biotechnology and food sectors. Students will learn about the fundamentals of the primary methods of analysis used to assure the metrological traceability of pure primary calibrators and matrix reference materials, as well as the development of reference measurement procedures.

Lectures at the School are leading European experts in the delivery of research projects development of concepts and the teaching of biochemical metrology.

The participants will learn the basic principles of providing measurement results with direct traceability to the SI, and how these are applied to enabling comparable measurement results for a range of current biological and biochemical measurement challenges,

They will gain insights into how the latest biochemical metrology research is impacting on current priority challenges (e.g. Neurodegenerative diseases, Cancer, metrology for the routine monitory of health status markers and food contaminants) and, in addition, develop a network of contacts with colleagues from leading biochemical metrology research projects.

The event will be a perfect opportunity for NMIs/DIs who wish to establish or increase their activities in the biochemistry/biology sector to quickly get up to speed with current approaches and establish links to current NMI/DI work programmes.

Final day for registration of EURAMET colleagues is 1 April 2026.

Registration for colleagues from other regional metrology organisations (subject to availability) will open afterwards.

More information and registration are available at the website of PTB.

This four-day training event is organised within the framework of EURAMET CaBuCo (Capacity Building Coordination).
